Cobbler Pose (butterfly) gives children a new way to sit, as they stretch and improve circulation in their legs. It has two main benefits: one is to stimulate the heart and improve general circulation; the other is to stretch the inner thighs, groins, and knees.
Step 1
Sit on the floor, with your legs straight in front of you.
Step 2
Keep your feet flat on the floor, and slide your feet closer to your body, so your knees are bent.
Step 3
Gently press the bottoms of your feet together, and allow your knees to open like a book.
Step 4
Hold this pose for as long as it is comfortable.
Step 5
Lift your knees back together, then straighten your legs back out in front of you.
