We had a lot of fun marking the lunar new year in preschool. We shared the legend of Nien the monster and found out that he was scared of loud noises, fire and the colour red and how these are all a feature of Chinese new year celebrations today. We also shared the story of the race and found out how the Chinese zodiac came to be and what characteristics we are said to have depending on our birth year. We tasted noodles and practiced using chopsticks. We also tried our hand at dragon dancing.
